The hypertextuality brought by the revolution in text media and changes in reading habits seem to be detrimental to the existence of books and publishing. However, this article reflects on the views of various authors who argue that it is not that we read less, but rather that the way we read has changed and, without realizing it, we read more and more. At the same time, in this new globalized era, new publishing genres are emerging, challenging the role of the publisher or, rather, opening up the opportunity to redefine their position as intermediaries between new publishing genres and modern ways of consuming literature.
