This article aims to reflect on the space for creativity offered by the teaching of Art. In this sense, the project entitled "AniMais: a tribute to the Amazon", implemented in a public school in the state of Pará, brings together the realization of activities in class and outside class, in the context of teaching the discipline of Art, highlighting personal appreciation and local fauna. Considering that a non-coercive environment contributes to the acquisition of positive results in teaching, especially in the creative and social expression of students, the activities presented demonstrated advances in the construction of interventions adapted to the Amazonian reality. In addition, this study also shows the role of the teacher as a mediator in the activities, and the difficulties encountered by the teaching staff in a context of vulnerability in public education.
